Introduction: Europe encompasses an area of 10,400,000 km², stretching from Asia to the Atlantic, and from Africa to the Arctic. Europe's longest river is the Volga, which meanders 3,530 km through Russia, and flows into the Caspian Sea. Eastern Europe's highest point is Russia's Mt. Elburn, which rises to 5,642 m above sea level. There is much here for the traveler to enjoy, with a bewildering array of diversity and culture, cosmopolitan cities and spectacular scenery. Western Europe's highest point is Mont Blanc in the French-Italian Alps, which rises to 4,810 m above sea level. Regions: Europe defies easy categorization, with its compact size and complex history. The following are five regions in Europe: European Regions - Western Europe, Central Europe, Northern Europe, Eastern Europe, Western Europe - Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. Northern Europe- Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Central Europe - Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland. Eastern Europe - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Russia and Ukraine. Mediterranean Europe - Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Greek part, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Northern Cyprus, Portugal, San Marino, Serbia, Spain, Turkey and Vatican City. By plane-The largest air travel hubs in Europe are, in order, London, Frankfurt, Paris, and Amsterdam which in turn have connections to practically everywhere in Europe By train-The Trans-Siberian Railway from Beijing and Vladivostok to Moscow is a classic rail journey.
